“Taíno Vive” closing celebration

Join us for the closing of “Taíno Vive” on Sunday, June 21. Say goodbye to this popular temporary exhibition about the joys and complexity of Caribbean Indigenous culture with a day of talks and a film screening, culminating in music and a prayer.

  • 12:30 pm, author Sarah Serrano discusses her book Ahiyakawo Ke (Land, Speak to Us): Taíno and Kalínago Herbalism, a botanical guide to plants cultivated and foraged for food, ceremonies, and healing.
  • 1:30 pm, filmmaker and professor Carlos Torre returns with another screening of his documentary Taíno Legacy, a 20-minute documentary that seeks to honor and recover the living threads of a nearly extinguished civilization.
  • 3 pm, exhibition collaborator Stephanie Bailey presents on the development of Taíno Vive." 
  • 4 pm, exhibition collaborator Luis Sanakori Ramos will offer music and a prayer to close the exhibition.
