Students pursuing a certificate will study botanical and zoological art in a variety of media including graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, mixed media, oil, colored pencil, and digital graphics. Requirements for the certificate include core and elective courses and a final class project for each course taken. This project will demonstrate artistic proficiency in the concepts and techniques taught in the course.
The portfolio certificate will reflect the quality of instruction provided by experienced professional artists and the Peabody Museum's endorsement of the student's certificate portfolio. Certificates will be awarded annually with recipients recognized at a public exhibition of their work.
