Policies and Procedures

Enrollment eligibility:

Courses are designed for adults.  All participants must be at least 18 years of age.  There will be no exceptions.


Location of classes and course information:

Most classes are held in the Yale Peabody Museum and the Class of 1954 Environmental Science Center, located on Sachem Street adjacent to the museum.  The buildings are handicapped accessible.  Some classes may be held at other Yale properties including museums, gardens and at Yale's West Campus.  These locations will be included in the course description.  As of March 2020, and until further notice, there will be no in person classes.  Classes will be offered on-line through Zoom.   


Course prerequisites:

Courses numbered 200 and above require Course # 101 Drawing I as a prerequisite.  Check the course descriptionfor additional prerequisites.  


Course cancellation:

If a course is under-enrolled or must be cancelled for any reason, students will be refunded 100% of the course fee, or can receive credit for a future course.


Fee refund policy:

No refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel less than 30 days before the course begins.  Should the course be cancelled by the Peabody Museum, a full refund will be issued.


Curriculum changes: 

The Yale Peabody Museum reserves the right to change the calendar, withdraw, or modify a course, and substitute instructors.  The Yale Peabody Museum will make every effort to notify students of such changes in advance.


Class cancellations:

In case of inclement weather, the instructor will make every effort to contact students by email and/or phone in a timely manner.  However, it will be the student’s responsibility to check to see if a class will meet.  Instructor's contact information will be sent to enrolled students before the start of the first class.


Reproduction rights:

Students will be asked on the registration form if they give permission for the Yale Peabody Museum to use photos of themselves or their work as they pertain to each course for educational or publicity purposes.  If this permission is not granted by the student, the Yale Peabody Museum will not use such images for those purposes.
