From Anthropology to Zoology, the 13 million objects and specimens in the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History’s collections represent a world-class record of the history of Earth and its cultures. Yet less than a tenth of one percent is on display in the public galleries! In continuing celebration of our 150th anniversary, we're offering behind-the-scenes tours on the first and third Tuesdays during fall 2019 and spring 2020. In this tour led by Yale students you’ll visit two different curatorial divisions, learn how the collections are stored and organized, and glimpse some hidden treasures that rarely see the light of day.

Tours are by registration only, and will be limited to a total of 24 people. Please limit the number in your party to 4, and please only register for one tour date per semester in order to allow space for others to attend. Because many of the collections storage rooms are active labs or workspaces with fragile objects in some cases, these tours are not open to children under 12. Tours leave from the Peabody Museum lobby promptly at 4:00 pm. Each group will visit the two collections listed, though these collections may occasionally change based on tour guide availability.
