Deinonychus means “terrible claw,” and this cast of the phalanx (toe bone) and ungual (last) bone in the second toe was presumably just that. This full-size replica was made from a specimen at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, found during John H. Ostrom’s 1964 Yale University expedition to Montana. The three-piece set includes the ungual, the phalanx and a custom-made stand that holds the reproduction upright.
