The Journal of Marine Research (ISSN 0022-2402 print; ISSN 1543-9542 online) is one of the oldest journals in American marine science, with a rich tradition and distinguished history going back to 1937, and has published important research in physical, biological, and chemical oceanography. An archive of articles from Volume 1 through 40 are available below as free downloadable PDF files. Select classic papers chosen by the editors, with commentary, are available here.

The Sears Foundation for Marine Research at Yale University was established in 1937 by Albert E. Parr, director of Yale’s Bingham Oceanographic Laboratory, through a gift from Henry Sears, to promote research and publication in marine sciences. The Foundation’s Journal of Marine Research and its Memoirs series, including Fishes of the Western North Atlantic, remain important references today.

NEW The final monograph and the now complete entire series of the Fishes of the Western North Atlantic are available through Yale University Press here.
