The Hall of Minerals
at the Yale Peabody Museum

Phase 2 of the Hall of Minerals, Earth, and Space

amazonite in the collections of the Yale Peabody MuseumThe Yale Peabody Museum’s Mineral Hall closed for renovation in June 2007, to reopen as Phase 2 of HoMES, the Museum’s new permanent Hall of Minerals, Earth and Space, in May 2008. Designed to foster an appreciation for the wonders of our planet, this new permanent mineral exhibition will highlight Connecticut geology, the diversity of minerals, ores, fluorescent minerals and gemstones, with many spectacular specimens from the Museum’s collections in the Division of Mineralogy.

Until then, a small exhibit of spectacular gemstones and jewelry from the Benjamin (’62) and Barbara Zucker Family and C. R. Beesley collections are on display on the Museum’s third floor. These beautiful pieces give some sense of the wonderful specimens that will be featured in the new HoMES mineral hall!
