Introduction to Bird Watching

Field Trip Thursday, May 10, 10:00 a.m. – Noon

West Rock Ridge State Park in Hamden

 

Learn the basics of bird watching and develop a life-long skill that will forever change the way you interact with the world around you.  Instruction will include identification techniques, selection and use of binoculars, guides and other birding gear, local birding hotspots, and additional resources for continuing to develop your birding skills.  The first session will meet indoors and feature specimens from the Yale Peabody Museum’s extensive collections.  The second session will meet outdoors for hands-on birding at Lake Wintergreen in West Rock Ridge State Park in Hamden.  Binoculars are available for loan.

 

Fee: $25 members, $30 non-members

Maximum participants: 20
