Identifying Hawks In Flight

East Rock Park in New Haven


Learn to identify the birds of prey migrating through Connecticut each fall using field marks, silhouettes and other clues.  Characteristics common to all raptors and specific adaptations of each family will be discussed.  Some surprising facts about hawk watching and a review of equipment and resources will also be included.


Session 1 will meet indoors and feature specimens from the Peabody Museum collections.  Session 2 will meet outdoors for a hands-on hawk watching experience.


Fee: $30, ($25 for Museum members)

Maximum participants: 20
