Birding Babylon: A Soldier’s Journey from Iraq

With Jonathan Trouern-Trend

Thursday, March 28 at 5:30 pm

Free admission

During his two deployments with the Connecticut National Guard, Jonathan Trouern-Trend’s long time interest in natural history, and birds in particular, served as an important personal counterbalance to the violence and chaos he experienced during his 22 months spent in Iraq. Sergeant Trouern-Trend will discuss his observations of the natural world in wartime and his experiences with wildlife encountered on his travels, focusing on the work of several surprisingly robust environmental organizations working today in Iraq.
