The Sugar Pandemic: Policy vs. Politics

With Robert Lustig, MD

Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Endocrinology, University of California, San Francisco

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm

The obesity/metabolic syndrome pandemic correlates tightly with the increase in dietary sugar consumption. Earlier arguments that "correlation does not equal causation"  are supplanted by ample data implicating sugar as a primary etiology. Science should inform policy, but the politics get in the way. The relation between each will be discussed to generate a new paradigm for chronic disease prevention.
