Visit the Peabody on Thursdays and Fridays in July to catch a roving concert by members of the Morse Summer Music Academy, a comprehensive music program for select 5th through 11th grade students from the New Haven Public Schools. Starting at 1:00 pm, small ensembles will perform short selections throughout the museum galleries. Enjoy the performances by these talented young musicians while you peruse the Museum’s exhibits.
Concerts are held every Thursday and Friday in July (July 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31). An additional concert originally scheduled for Monday, July 21, has been cancelled. All concerts begin at 1:00 pm and will end at approximately 1:45 pm. This program is free with general admission to the Museum.
The Morse Summer Music Academy provides comprehensive summer music instruction for accomplished student musicians from the New Haven Public Schools. The program nurtures and develops creativity, musicianship, and musical leadership in students who are passionate about music. The Morse Summer Music Academy is made possible through a generous endowment established by Enid and Lester Morse, Yale College ’51, and is offered free of charge to New Haven Public School students.
