Geology Walk at East Rock Park

On Sunday, October 29, the Peabody Museum is again offering an opportunity to explore the geology of East Rock Park in New Haven.  Join Dr. Copeland MacClintock of the Peabody Museum’s Invertebrate Paleontology Department as he leads a detailed investigation of recent geologic events at East Rock Park.  Geologic features to be highlighted on this walk include kettles, lunar fractures and striated bedrock.

This four-hour hike will meet at 9 am in the parking lot at the north end of the park just off Davis Street in Hamden, returning to the same location by 1:00 pm.  The route will include road and trail walking as well as some steep slopes.  Participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather.  Participants may also want to pack water and snacks.  There are no bathroom facilities along the intended route.

Registration is limited to 15 participants, and all those registered must be at least 15 years of age.  No pets please. Rain date is Sunday, November 5.
