Emerging infectious diseases are regularly in the news. Humans are changing environments in ways that bring people into closer contact with organisms (vectors) that transmit disease from one species to another. Come learn about some of these changes in Connecticut, such as reforestation and the expansion of suburbs into forested areas. In recent years we have seen an increase in reported cases of Lyme disease and West Nile virus, both transmitted to humans from other animals by infected arthropod vectors (ticks and mosquitoes). The Museum is partnering with the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation at the Yale School of Medicine to spread the word about the causes and prevention of these and other infectious diseases. Join us for this fun and engaging program for the whole family, including games, crafts—and live mosquito larvae.
