Angklung is an Indonesian musical instrument consisting of two to four bamboo tubes suspended in a bamboo frame, bound with rattan cords. The tubes are carefully whittled and cut by a master craftsperson to produce certain notes when shaken or tapped. Each angklung produces a single note or chord, so several players must collaborate in order to play melodies. You can learn to play angklung by dropping in on any of the six dates listed above.

The instructor, Tricia Sumarijanto, has served as the music arranger and conductor for The House of Angklung since 2009. The group has performed in various events in Washington D.C., Boston, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Atlanta, etc. She is also the instructor for the Angklung Goes to School Program with over 2,500 participants in the Washington, D.C. area, Philadelphia and Wisconsin.
