
Called Biãn Dãn in China, the shoulder pole or
carry pole can be seen in many places in Asia. In much of the Orient
goods are carried in two baskets or pails on a pole balancedon a
person’s shoulder. Many different goods are transported this way, from
liquids to livestock (chickens, ducks) to household goods and lumber.
