How much does a party cost?

Parties cost $350 for non-members, and $325 for Peabody members and Yale ID holders. A $100 deposit is required to reserve your party (deposit will be applied to final party balance).

 

How much do additional guests cost?

15 children are included in a party. You may add additional children for $10 per child (up to a maximum of 20 children). Children under 3 years and parents are free of charge.  The Party Lab capacity is 25 people, including children and parents, so wwe encourage parenst to drop off their children and then explore the museum.  Parents cannot stand in the hallway outside the Party Lab.

 

What activities are included in a party?

Pick a themed party by visiting the “Pick a Party” tab. Themes include Dinosaurs, Rocks & Minerals, Ancient Egypt and Wildlife.

 

What add-on activities can I include in my party?

Let us take care of your goody bags! Also visit the “Deluxe Options” page to see other add-on activities for your party, such as having each child crack a geode to take home!

 

Are the parties appropriate for certain ages?

Our parties are appropriate for ages 4-10. We will provide age-appropriate themed activities for your party.

 

When are parties held?

Most Saturdays (10:30am, 12:45pm, and 3:00pm) and Sundays (12:45pm and 3:00pm). Parties are not scheduled during the summer months or during Museum special events.

 

How much time do I have for my party?

Parties include exclusive use of the Party Lab (a private room) for 2 hours (1.5 hours for the party, and 15 minutes before and after for set-up and clean-up). You may come 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of your party to set up.  Staff members will be there to assist.  Clean-up takes place in the 15 minutes following the party.  Please be prompt as there may be a party scheduled before or after yours.

 

How do I reserve my party?

Click here to book your party date and activities. A $100.00 deposit is required to reserve your party date and time. The deposit will be applied to your final party balance which must be paid no later than the day of the party.  If paying by check, make the check payable to Yale University.

 

Can parents attend my child’s party?

Yes, however the maximum number of people allowed in the Party Lab is 25, including children and parents.  We encourage parents to drop off their children in the Party Lab and then explore the museum.  Parents are not allowed to stand in the hallway outside the Party Lab.  

 

Where do parents park and drop off their children?

Parents may park in the Peabody Museum parking lot (parking is free on the weekends). They should bring their children into the museum and tell the front desk attendant they are here for a birthday party. Staff will direct them to the party room.

 

Can I bring party decorations?

We will provide and hang a wall sized colorful happy birthday banner in the room.  We cannot hang anything else from the walls or ceiling.  You can provide any sort of table decorations. The five tables in the room are 6' long if you would like to bring table cloths.

***Balloons are not allowed in the Peabody Museum.

 

Can I bring my own food and cake?

You provide all food and beverages for your party. We recommend cupcakes (instead of a large birthday cake) as it is easier to distribute to guests, and leaves more time for party activities! If having food delivered, please arrange to have it here 45 minutes before the end of the party.  ***If you plan to order pizza, you must do so before coming to the Museum at your scheduled party time.  It usually takes about 1 hour for restaurants to fill and deliver orders.

 

Do you provide food and beverage supplies?

We do not provide paper goods or utensils. Please bring any cups/plates/forks/napkins/etc. that you will need.
