Photography and Filming at the Yale Peabody MuseumWith certain limitations, the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History permits scholars, students and the general public to photograph the Museum and its collections. Requests for Personal and Scholarly Photography or FilmingIn general, photography with hand-held cameras only is permitted in the Yale Peabody Museums exhibition halls without written permission, for noncommercial personal, educational or academic purposes only (defined as without personal or corporate gain), and must not interfere with public use of the halls. Photography may be prohibited in certain exhibitions. Photography or filming of the Zallinger murals The Age of Reptiles and The Age of Mammals is prohibited. All other uses require advance written permission. Contact the Permissions Office for information. If in doubt please inquire at the Admissions desk in the Peabody lobby. Requests by Members of the PressRequests for photography and filming for news, publicity and promotional purposes require advance notification. Members of the media should contact: Requests for Commercial Filming and Photography ShootsLocation photography or filming for commercial use, defined as for personal or corporate gain in publications, and in films, television, electronic media and other commercial products, including educational projects, must be formally requested in writing in advance at least 4 weeks in advance and is subject to approval, fees and the availability of staff. Public galleries and some other areas may be made available with prior written permission as locations for films, video or television productions, and for promotional photography, but not all areas may be available at all times. |
