Twan Leenders received his doctoral degree in 1994 from Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen in his native Holland. He has authored many professional publications, including a field guide to the amphibians and reptiles of Costa Rica. His primary research interests include neotropical herpetofauna, coral snake mimicry, and amphibian ecology. He currently is on the faculty at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. In his sparehe time climbs rocks and trees—among his former addresses is a rainforest treehouse.
