The collection of type specimens in the fish collection in the Yale Peabody Museum’s Division of Vertebrate Zoology contains over 925 specimens representing 190 nominal species. Most of these species were part of the Bingham Oceanographic Collection. Many of the taxa are deep sea fish. Current work by investigators will undoubtedly result in the growth of the type collection.

The Yale Peabody Museum’s collections are available to legitimate researchers for scholarly use. Loans are issued to responsible individuals at established institutions. Loans and access to the collection can be arranged through the Collections Manager.
