Join us in New Haven, June 11-16th, 2012 for the 27th Annual Meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections, hosted by the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History (YPM).
The YPM has a variety of attractions including; 25,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, state of the art collections facilities in the Environmental Science Center, and a newly renovated collection facility on the Yale West Campus.
Yale University, dating back to 1701, is one of the oldest universities in the United States, and boasts a variety of architectural styles. During the week you will have an opportunity to visit some of the four museums and 40 libraries/collections available on campus.
The meeting will be held at the Omni Hotel, “a three-diamond hotel”, situated in downtown New Haven just steps from historic sections of Yale University’s campus, the town green, the Shubert Theater, shopping boutiques, and an abundance of ethnic and American restaurants.
We are building what we think will be an exciting program with activities planned throughout Yale’s campus and beyond. We will have a third edition of “Demo Camp” with new information on the latest museum topics. Field trips will take us to the hills of Connecticut, through the Cnnecticut Rift Valley, and to the shoreline of Long Island Sound! You will also have an opportunity to explore our West Campus facility and the ESC building during an afternoon of collections tours.
On behalf of the local organizing committee, We invite you to join us for what we hope will be a memorable meeting!
