Student Summer Internships at the Yale Peabody Museum

The Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History is delighted to offer an expanded summer internship program for Yale undergraduate students.

Interns will participate in the rich variety of research taking place in the Yale Science Hill community, and will work on a semi-independent project with a mentor using the Yale Peabody Museum’s diverse collections. Interns may work with a host scientist as part of an ongoing research program, or may choose to design a project that investigates a topic of interest.

Current Internship Opportunities | Application Information

Several internships will be offered each year. Each internship will carry a stipend of $4,000 for a summer project of a minimum duration of 8 weeks. Students will be responsible for their own housing and board.

In addition, each student and mentor can request up to $1,000 to support fieldwork or laboratory expenses for a project. Participation in some fieldwork is desirable but not required. Participants potentially will be able to share their experiences on our fieldwork blog.

As part of the fulfillment of the internship, at its completion students will be expected to give a short presentation on their summer research project and also submit a short essay on their research experience for the fall issue of the Yale Environmental News.
